SHE'S SWEET AS HONEY. Maybe she was lost. Maybe she ran away. Whatever Honey Jo's story is, it's going to have a happy ending. This stray has some recovering to do, but she's still a youngster (probably about 2 years-old) and is getting great care. At only 31 pounds, this German Shepherd mix is nearly 20 pounds underweight which is why she has peanut butter on her nose in one of the photos. Honey Jo's skin issues and tummy worms will be gone soon. She's up to date on her vaccinations and has received a 12-month injection for future heartworm prevention. Currently she is heartworm positive and soon will begin treatment that will require her to have minimal physical activity for at least six months. She also will be spayed. Honey Jo needs a family committed to helping her recover. In return you will have a gorgeous and devoted girl by your side. Available through Tired Dog Rescue, Gulfport, MS. Fee: $275. Apply at tireddogrescue.org
Hi my name is Honey Jo! I am a sweet but shy German Shepherd. I am very small but that’s because before I was rescued I was mistreated and malnourished, I could grow to be full shepherd size or I could stay small only time will tell! My vet thinks I am older than 1 year old (possibly closer to 2 years old) by looking at my teeth. I am very very smart and catch on to learning new tricks fast! I already know sit, shake, and down and that’s amazing considering I have only been with my foster mom a few days! I am kennel trained and also doing very well with house training. I am good with other dogs of all sizes, but I am nervous and scared of them at first. I am scared of cats and prefer to not be around them but they typically leave me alone. I am also learning that donkeys, horses, goats, and pigs are okay too! I love toys that squeak and balls and I’m learning what fetch means.
Special Needs: Heartworm Positive
We at Tired Dog Rescue strive to find homes for dogs in need, build quality relationships with responsible owners, and preserve current dog-family homes by seeking solutions to financial, behavioral, and situational dog problems. We believe the lives of homeless, abandoned and abused dogs are just as precious as dogs that currently have a loving home. We believe that all dogs deserve a loving home despite their age, medical condition and/or disabilities. We provide whatever medical care is needed regardless of cost. All dogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm negative and current on vaccinations before being placed.
