WINNIE MAE NEEDS A WINNING HOME One of the many differences between humans and dogs is that most bipeds have at least some ability to process calamity. Dogs just suffer in confusion. This beautiful 14-year-old Dachshund came to TDR after her best Doxie buddy was euthanized. At a time in her life when she should be secure in a loving home until she crosses the Rainbow Bridge, Winnie experienced neglect and upheaval. She lacked even the most basic care, but despite some physical challenges, this little girl has spunk, energy and wants to be in on what is going on around her. She loves it when her people and four-footed foster siblings chase her around the yard. She's also a great fan of squeaky toys. Winnie will always be up for a snuggle when you are. At her age, it's no surprise that she's hard of hearing and isn't as aware of her bathroom urges as she once was. Her new family will need to be observant, patient and consistent to get her on a routine. She is in the early stages of renal disease, so she will need to be monitored regularly, but at this time she is not on medication and doesn't require a special diet. Winnie's health already has improved since coming into foster care. She is a happy girl who is far from over the hill. TDR recommends Winnie not be adopted by a family with small children. She is leash- and crate trained and gets along with cats and other dogs. She especially likes women and older folks and would be fine as an only pet. Winnie is heartworm negative, up to date on vaccinations and recently had a dental cleaning. She also is spayed and microchipped. Available through Tired Dog Rescue, Gulfport, MS. Fee: $50. Apply at tireddogrescue.org.
We at Tired Dog Rescue strive to find homes for dogs in need, build quality relationships with responsible owners, and preserve current dog-family homes by seeking solutions to financial, behavioral, and situational dog problems. We believe the lives of homeless, abandoned and abused dogs are just as precious as dogs that currently have a loving home. We believe that all dogs deserve a loving home despite their age, medical condition and/or disabilities. We provide whatever medical care is needed regardless of cost. All dogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm negative and current on vaccinations before being placed.
