Hi there! My name is Charlie Daniels! I am a six-year-old Labrador Retriever mix and I weigh about 60 pounds. My foster mom has been helping me drop some weight, so it's hard to keep up with an accurate number! I am neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and completing heartworm treatment.
I've been told I'm an optical illusion. I look so large in my photos but I'm really not that big. I'm not nearly the size of your average Labrador. The weight listed may make me seem like a large guy, but I need to lose a lot of that yet. Also, I don't know why, but I always seem to look so concerned in my pictures! I was hoping that would help draw in an adopter but I've been waiting since January! I have been watching Youtube to try and learn how to smile without showing my teeth (I was told that's too scary!). Soon I will master this photo taking endeavor! I am told that I'm the sweetest, best boy, but yet no one seems to want a large chocolate Reese's puff named Charlie!
I was once a stray, so sometimes loud noises can startle me. As long as I'm with my human, I will relax pretty quickly. Just a couple pats and maybe a hug (I love hugs), and I'll be good as new! I love people so much, once I know they're safe that is. It doesn't take me long to warm up to people but once I do, look out! We will be the best of friends!
I love car rides and I have the best car manners. As long as I can look out the window and keep an eye on my human, I'm happy to just sit in my seat and watch the world go by. I haven't been around children or cats but that could be tested before adoption. I think I would like kids as long as they're a little older. The young ones get so screamy and that makes me a little nervous. I love all dogs as long as they're nice to me. I'm still figuring out this whole, "playing," thing. Once I know the dog is friendly, I will try my best to keep up and play! Once I finish my heartworm treatment, I'll really be able to run and frolic!
I love to go outside and I walk really well on a leash. I would love to be with someone that wants to stroll the world with me. As long as we can stop occasionally for hugs, of course. Maybe a camping trip? I would love to smell all the smells on an adventure! I am house trained, crate trained, and nondestructive in the house. A lot of Labradors can be loud and barky but I'm a quiet guy. A quiet, pint sized (ok maybe a quart), mature chocolate lab look alike that is fully trained?? What else could you need??
If I spark your interest at all and you feel a connection, please ask to meet me! I promise I'm so much cuter in person (darn pictures). And once I give you some of my sweet kisses, I promise I win your heart. If you would like more information or would like to apply to adopt me, please visit www.tireddogrescue.org
