Hi all!  My name is Ellie, short for Elenor- I'm a distinguished older lady but like to keep some of my puppy charm, so please, call me Ellie.  I'm an eleven-year-old maltese chihuahua mix and I weigh approximately 8 pounds.  I am heartworm negative, spayed, and up to date on all of my shots.  However, my heart isn't the best, so I take daily medications, but they're SO easy to give!  I know meds can be a pain for some dogs, but if you just drop them in my food, I'll gobble them right up and I'm good to go!  Please don't let that little fact sway you from reading more about me!

I LOVE my humans.  Once I know you're a good one, I will follow you until the end of time.  All I ask is that you take slow steps because I've got little legs!  My foster mom says I look like a little white pug dog because I'm built like a little potato and when I walk, I make little snorting noises.

My previous owner had me for a very long time but due to health issues, could no longer care for me.  I was very special to him, and I loved him so.  It was so hard for me to say goodbye, but I am very excited to find my next human to love, I know someone is out there!  I am eleven, but for a tiny dog, that's really young!  Also, owning an older dog has GREAT benefits!  We're already house trained, crate trained, leash trained, and know how to behave when left alone.  The full package!

I am energetic and like to know where you are at all times.  I also love to wander around and make sure the house is safe.  One of my favorite things is cuddling on the couch or in bed.  I like to be close to you and love being held.  If you want kisses, I can help with that too.  You are guaranteed to have all your bad days fixed when I'm around.  I'm like a tiny little ray of sunshine, you'll see!

I get along with respectful dogs and would do best in a home without high energy dog or puppies.  I love humans but would do best with respectful or older children.

I am housetrained, crate trained, and walk well on a leash.  I will require a harness though because my throat is a little fragile.  I don't pull on the leash, but just to be safe, a harness would be best.

I would be great in any living situation.  I would love a yard that I can wander around in but would also love apartment living where I can bask on the floor of a sunny window.  I enjoy being around people so much that any housing situation would be perfect.  If you take me out to a grass area, I immediately do my business then I'm ready to follow you wherever you go!  Easy peasy!

Lately, my foster mom has been leaving Seinfield on the TV for me so I can have some noise in the house to acclimate.  I've become very invested in the series.  Kramer is definitely my favorite so far.  I can relate to the crazy hair!  If we could cuddle up and finish this series together, that would be a dream come true!  If you think I would be a good fit for you and you would love a tiny adorable white snorting shadow following you around, please apply for me today!  I promise you won't regret it!  www.tireddogescue.org
